Chapter 4 Coloured Papers

I started off by doing loads of papers with spent dye, (the first 12 sheets shown) which is good and runny.I also used a fine brush and on some a round sponge dipped in contrasting colour and applied to the wet sheet.  The next two pages are red acrylic paint with bubble paper pressed into the wet paint and next to it a sheet splattered with blue ink, which is very pale. The next  8 sheets show what happened whenI got quite carried away one afternoon and spend ages using the dye on a lot of white hand towels, which came out well and gave me many many sheets for future use.  The last three above are done with brusho on heavyweight paper.

The scanned pages from my sketchbook are (middle one) crumpled tissue which has been glued down with watered down PVA. I used Brusho on the other two lots directly on the pages.

Chapter 3

When painting these greys, black with white was fine of course. Mixing red+blue+yellow invariably came out as a colour I would not have called grey, no matter how I changed the proportions. Am I doing something wrong, or perhaps being too literal? It was somewhat the same with the two complementary colours plus white.

I enjoyed doing the veg, but perhaps the peas were a bit large?

Bird break

I thought I would pause in my sketchbook work after I had received a new book from Amazon called The Artful Bird.  I just had to have a go and here he is a rather unusual looking wren.

Chapter 2 - More Colour

Once again very enjoyable. However when I got to exercise 2.2 I should have started larger.  With the final extra activity I was surprised to find that there was only one place where I needed an extra shade/colour.  I don't know why these pics come out in different sizes, but I will leave well alone.

Chapter One

Well here are the pics of my book pages for this chapter. I haven't put all the mark making ones in as some were not too interesting.
